A/N: This is in no way a finished draft. In fact, it is a first draft. Normally, I would not publish a first draft. However, I have been assigned to do so from the podcast Start With This by Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor. It is a great podcast about the process of creating, and … Continue reading Untitled

A Swing Set Spiderman

It was a warm, sunny afternoon. Hot enough that a coat would be too heavy, but still cold enough that a light jacket was easily comfortable. His jacket was blue and gray, soft, clean. The sky, only slightly lighter than his jacket, was inviting, seeming to say to me “it’s going to be beautiful” as … Continue reading A Swing Set Spiderman

Being an Ally: How to Help Trans Youth

What Is the Problem? There are over a million trans people all across America, some of them right here in Montgomery County. Many of these people don’t feel like they belong, or are even being actively attacked: the HB2 law in North Carolina tried to force transgender people to use the bathrooms of their biological … Continue reading Being an Ally: How to Help Trans Youth

Irrational Living (A Personal Essay)

I feel like I’ve always lived this way. As far back as I can remember, it’s mostly been the same. Not a single moment is spent focusing on the moment itself, but rather thinking about what may happen in the next ten minutes, the next hour, day, month even. I’ve seen all the posts on … Continue reading Irrational Living (A Personal Essay)

Author’s Note

Hello! It's December, yay! NaNoWriMo is over, which theoretically means I have more time, but November was only the beginning. I will still be very busy with writing and school, so I will not be posting much. However, stay tuned throughout this month for two new pieces (at least one of which is being published … Continue reading Author’s Note

Author’s Note

Hi friends, Halloween is drawing to an end, and Marty has returned back to his world. I want to let you know now that I may not post at all during the month of November. I am participating in NaNoWriMo, and that will take up A LOT of my time. If you don't know what … Continue reading Author’s Note

October 31, 2018; Goodbye

I went back to Emory's house today. In fact, I'm still there. I'm sitting on their couch right now, watching as they take breaks from cuddling and watching a movie to give candy to visiting children. It truly is sweet. I arrived early this morning, wanting to spend as much time here as I could. … Continue reading October 31, 2018; Goodbye

October 30, 2018; We Did It

Today has been wild. We've been celebrating our victory over the Fuckboys all day. They're not gone- we all know that. Next year, when October comes around, our war will continue. But for now, for this year, we defeated them, and that's all that matters. We have weakened them, so the humans won't have to … Continue reading October 30, 2018; We Did It

October 29, 2018; The Final Battle

Our plan worked. This morning, we all awoke to the sound of the General blowing a horn. To the East, outlined by the rising sun, was an army of hundreds of Fuckboys. In the middle of them, we could see the silhouette of the Sorcerer. We quickly gathered ourselves, our numbers only slightly lower than … Continue reading October 29, 2018; The Final Battle

October 28, 2018; Preparation

I have spent all day guarding an abandonded town in the desert. The magicians were hard at work all through morning and into the afternoon, doing... well, I don't know exactly what they were doing. Setting the trap, that's as much as I know. They drew many lines in the dirt, on the walls, all … Continue reading October 28, 2018; Preparation

I sadly did not take a photo but today I saw a squirrel carrying a bowl in his mouth, except the bowl was also covering his face so he couldn't see where he was going. He would take a couple steps, stop, look around, take a couple more steps. Eventually he went behind a pillar and adjusted the bowl. It's my girlfriend's birthday!!! I'm not dating a teenager anymore!!! https://www.instagram.com/reel/CnXP0pTJ_Dj/ Today is Saturday, tomorrow will be Sunday. Am I supposed to think anything more? Every day, every moment is a new beginning. So here's a Walrus for ya Easily the best Yule present I was gifted this year-- @erinmorgenstern Phantomwise Tarot, which I have wanted eagerly ever since I first learned of its existence. It was gifted to me by my lovely partner, to whom I have also been slowly reading The Night Circus aloud. It is my all-time favorite book, a huge inspiration for me as a writer, and reading it out loud has allowed me to appreciate it in new ways. What a fun solstice season it's been!!! https://www.instagram.com/reel/CmVGxuEDtso/ I realized I never elaborated on this, so I want to take a moment to talk about my family. In October, I fully cut my birth family from my life. This was a terribly difficult decision to make, took months and months of planning, and was tied up in so much hurt and emotion. After more than 10,000 words written, two days of intense hyperfocus (built on over a month of prep work), and so much typing that my index finger aches, I am very excited and proud to say that I am DONE with this semester! Another one in the bag. I am at the point of writing where I have the document open in front if me and am trying to do my hardest to do anything BUT write. I love creative projects. I hate creative projects. Someone save me.
